People with intellectual and
developmental disabilities—and essential workers who support them—need your
voice now more than ever.
Last week, the U.S. Senate released the first draft of its proposed COVID-19 relief package, the “HEALS Act”. This $1 trillion dollar relief package again fails to include increased funding for Medicaid HCBS programs, which disability service providers need to cover added costs caused by the pandemic, including increased staffing and personal protective equipment.
Without increased funding for
providers like Bethesda, people with disabilities will be put at risk of being
put in costly and restrictive institutions.
This is simply unacceptable.
We must ensure that the disability
community receives vital support from this aid package. You can help! The upcoming days are critically important, and all
advocates and stakeholders are urged to reach
out to their Members of Congress and demand that Congress include
funding for disability service providers and the people with disabilities they
serve. We must tell the Senate
forgetting people with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic is absolutely unacceptable.
Go to the Bethesda
Action Center to tell Congress to
Support People with Disabilities and The Heroes Who Care for Them
In less than one minute of your time, you can petition your representatives in Washington, D.C. at Bethesda’s Action Center. This week (August 5-10, 2020) is critically important to help ensure the people you love have the resources required for sustainable quality care.
Thank you for being a voice for people with disabilities today and every day.
