The North Wisconsin LWML came to Watertown on a mission trip to serve Bethesda for a few days. A group of Bethesda team members and the members from the LWML spent an afternoon at a Bethesda Thrift Shop looking for items that they could turn into awesome projects for people Bethesda supports. Two pieces are completed and delivered already with more to come in the future.
The volunteers were
inspired to get involved through Karen Carter, Bethesda Auxiliary President and
Bethesda Board Member. This crafting project is in relation to National Thrift
Month which is in August. Bethesda has kept up a steady stream of thrifting
examples on their social media channels and ways to get involved with Bethesda
Thrift Shops during the month. Bethesda recently just completed a crafting
workshop with MissMashedUp, aka Barb Stutz, at the Appleton Bethesda Thrift
Shop. Barb showed attendees how to cut out graphics from t-shirts and sew them
onto the backs of flannels, creating a “mashup.” The event was scheduled for
National Thrift Shop Day and brought awareness to the general public about
Bethesda Thrift Shops and the how even simple items can be repurposed.
